Policy Process

This paper goes into the issues surrounding the legalization of Marijuana in New Jersey. At the beginning of Phil Murphy's term, one of his main promises was to legalize marijuana. However, there were many failed legislative attempts, mainly because there were many disagreements on how the sales revenue would be used. This is a perfect example of how complicated and time-consuming it is to implement public policy. 

NJ's ballot design was created purposefully to keep politicians in office and confuse voters. Running has a "team" or column makes it easier for the incumbent to campaign and harder for challengers. The "county line" is compelling, and because of their designs, candidates placed on the first column or more known as Column A have a 10 to 1 chance of winning the election.
